Industry First: Australia’s Only Certified Blind System for Multi-Storey Balconies

We’re excited to introduce the Ziptrak® and Nolan Performance Solution (PS)—a tested and certified combination of the Ziptrak® system and Vistaweave 95 fabric, developed specifically for balconies and façades in multi-storey buildings, retirement villages, first-floor balconies that require strata approval, and more!

This system configuration has passed stringent ISO 13785-1:2002 fire testing by IGNIS Labs, confirming it meets safety standards for flame spread and debris—even without a balcony structure in place. Under extreme heat, the Ziptrak® system—constructed from non-combustible aluminium with minimal plastic components—did not contribute to flame spread or release hazardous debris. The Vistaweave 95 fabric shrivelled under heat but did not ignite, spread flame, or produce burning droplets. These results have been independently verified by fire safety engineers at IGNIS.

While this test was conducted using Vistaweave 95, other fabrics may also meet the required fire performance criteria but have not yet undergone the same testing.

A First for the Industry

Ziptrak® and Nolan are the only blind system manufacturer and fabric supplier in Australia to achieve this level of certification—setting a new benchmark for safety and compliance in external shading!

Faster Approvals, Fewer Roadblocks

Thanks to this certification, the usual 900mm vertical clearance between blind installations is no longer required when using Ziptrak® and Vistaweave 95 PS. This simplifies the approval process and removes the need for individual certifier assessments—saving time and expanding design options for builders, architects, and installers.
